I designed the winter holiday display for Drybar in Austin’s 2nd St. Shopping District in 2021 as part of their annual Window Walk Competition. I focused on creating a minimalist display that was festive and on-brand but still allowed clients to see into the salon through the window.
This design features a soft, whimsical Christmas tree adorned with a silver bow. The bow’s tails were curled to mimic the silhouette of a blowout hairstyle, since Drybar specializes in blowouts. The tree was surrounded by yellow and silver ornaments of varying sizes and textures. I included disco balls to reflect light and to match the look of the mirrors inside the salon. Some of the disco ball ornaments were creatively homemade, using pieces of cut-up CDs on styrofoam balls. I added light in the form of garland wrapped in Christmas lights running along the top of the window and around the framed menu that stays in Drybar’s window year-round.
The store was very pleased with the display I provided and chose to keep some of the materials for future use.
